Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (MES) has defied the shipbuilding industry down turn to return to profit in the first half of FY2016.
The Japanese shipbuilder had net income of JPY 3.9bn ($37.3m) reversing the year-ago loss of just over JPY 1bn, figures released Friday show.
The shipbuilding arm managed to halve its operating losses reduced for the first half of the year, but they were still in the red to the tune of JPY 4.4bn.
