Clarksons shares have this afternoon set all-time highs in a week when the shipbroker’s market value pushed past $1bn for only the second time in the company’s history.

London-listed Clarksons hit a peak of £29.36 per share on Friday, up from £25.33 on Monday morning when it reported a strong set of annual results.

“It’s extraordinary,” said one rival broker who had observed the rise, noting the FTSE 250-listed company’s market capitalisation today compares favourably with many listed shipowners.
