For the third year running, Wells Fargo’s Michael Webber has been named shipping’s top equity analyst by Institutional Investor magazine.

Webber is perhaps best known for establishing the industry’s first “scorecard” for judging the corporate governance practices of public shipowners — to the delight of some and the outrage of others.

His continued popularity and backing from institutional investors probably means he will not be backing off that crusade any time soon, so the latest news may be fair warning to the stragglers: the governance crackdown is not going away.
