Many crude tanker owners face continued losses in 2018 despite an improving market balance, Evercore ISI says.

The warning came as analyst Jonathan Chappell's latest rate forecasts showed little movement from his previous set of sums.

"The good news for the near term is that the supply/demand imbalance we forecasted for crude tankers through next year does not appear quite as daunting as three months ago, with accelerated scrapping moderating capacity growth and end-user oil demand growth estimates continuing to inch higher," he said.
