Capital Product Partners' second-quarter profit fell by almost 60% amid rising costs.

The Athens-based company reported net income of $4m versus $9.8m for the same period last year.

The Evangelos Marinakis-backed owner's earnings per share (EPS) came in at $0.01, missing analysts' estimates of $0.04 EPS and year-ago results of $0.06.

Chief executive Jerry Kalogiratos said a weak tanker market, particularly for suezmaxes, and drydocking expenses impacted the quarterly figures.
