Drewry on Wednesday unveiled the launch of an offshoot that will offer investment reports on publicly traded shipping companies.

The consultancy tells TradeWinds the initiative will be led by David Wilson, who spent time as an investment analyst with WP Stewart and Standard & Poor’s prior to joining Drewry Maritime Equity Research.

At first, the new division plans to publish reports on a dozen port operators, including DP World, but also intends to initiate coverage of 12 liner companies by 2013 in a move that marks a departure from its focus on sector intelligence.

In a statement it told clients to keep an eye out for reports on International Container Terminal Services, Cosco Pacific, Huchison Port Holdings Trust, Santos Brasil, Hamburg Hafen und Logistik, Asciano, Global Ports Investments, China Merchants Holdings International, Dalian Port,Tianjin Port Development and Adani Ports, among others.
