The Korean shipowner ended the day’s trading in Seoul nearly 14% up on the opening price of KRW 14,050 ($13.3).
The KRW 16,000 per share closing price was the highest level seen in nearly a month.
However shares have still lost heavily since reaching a 2013 high of KRW 24,139 on 19 August.
Close to 5.5 million units changed hands during the session, the highest intraday trading volume since 28 August.
