A series of Apollo funds have gobbled up a near $30m chunk of the company to become its largest independent shareholder.

According to details released to the Oslo Stock Exchange, Apollo’s funds bought 1,204,647 Aker Philadelphia shares.

This hiked its holding in the shipbuilder from 1.21% to 13.06%, the filing shows, taking it ahead of Deutsche Bank as the prime external investor in the company.
