Golden Ocean revealed the fund-raiser last night despite having no pressing need for cash, prompting speculation the Oslo-listed owner is plotting a move on its OTC quoted rival.
Analysts note a purchase of GreenShip, in which Golden Ocean took a stake late last year, would help Fredriksen create a major force in the dry-cargo market, where he has surrendered some momentum to Scorpio Bulkers in recent times.
