SFL says the 4,800 teu vessels, which were being built at Shanghai Shipyard, were canned due to excessive delays and cancelled charter contracts.
All four ships in the series were originally set to go on charter to Hamburg Sud at a rate of around $26,250 per day over seven years.
However, the market has since nosedived and similar vessels are being fixed for around $10,000 per day less, TradeWinds reported a couple of weeks ago.
