The Korea Economic Daily said Korea EximBank (Kexim) is to run an eco-ship fund worth KRW 1 trillion ($973m).

The state-run bank will put up 25% of the amount, while institutional investors such as pension funds or insurance companies will cough up the rest.

Vessels will be acquired for charter to Korean owners and then the investors can cash out at a later date, leaving them with the risk of the investment.
