The shipowner saw its bottom line climb from JPY 70m to JPY 584m ($5.7m) year on year.
Kyoei’s progress came as revenue rose to JPY 3.50bn, up 17% on the same period of the last fiscal year.
The owner’s progress was not sufficient to prevent a trimming of its full-year profit expectations.
It is now predicting a gain of JPY 750m in the full year to 31 March 2016, down from the JPY 950m it previously projected.
