Hurtigruten turns profit

Hurtigruten's efforts to re-organise over the past two years have finally paid off, according to its profitable second quarter result.

The Norwegian ferry and cruiseship operator booked a gain of NOK 117m ($19m) versus NOK 105m in the prior year.

Its revenue reached NOK 1.025bn compared to NOK 985m in the corresponding period.

Consolidated EBITDA went up by NOK 19m to NOK 265m while cash flow was reduced in the second quarter due to down-payment of debt.

In its interim report, the company said the result was in line with guidance in the first quarter and it expects a positive outcome for the whole financial year.

Hurtigruten operates a fleet of 41 vessels.
