MBC profit rises

Malaysian Bulk Carriers has clocked up a higher second quarter profit.

Robert Kuok’s MBC booked a gain of MYR 19.26m ($6.09m) for the three months to the close of June, beating the MYR 13.14m of a year ago.

Its improved bottom line came despite the owner seeing revenue fall from MYR 65.77m to MYR 61.46m year-on-year.

In its quarterly numbers the owner noted a MYK 18.17m boost from other operating income, which contributed to an improved operating profit of MYR 10.47m.

For the first half, MBC is running at a profit of MYR 42,22m almost double last year’s figure.
