It said in a regulatory filing it planned to spend KRW 288.6b ($276m) to boost shareholder value.
The money will see it purchase 12m shares, representing 5.12% of the 230.88m outstanding.
The price rose as much as 8% on Wednesday following the announcement.
The company has just approved a $2.5bn merger with sister company Samsung Engineering.
