The bulker owner said it made $191.1m on a net basis in the three months ended 30 September, compared to a loss of $533.92m in the same period of 2013.
Revenue grew to $370.7m from $201.8m year-on-year, while operating profit was $38.7m, against a deficit of $147.6m.
It put the improvement down to a lower cost structure and the performance of its rehabilitation plan.
