It reported a deficit of $22.9m against a profit of $14.5m in the same spell of 2013.
Quarterly loss was a result of lower revenue which stood at $107.3m compared to $274m in the prior year, Swiber said.
It said recently awarded projects that have not started yet are to blame for the revenue figure.
Swiber has recently shown intense interest in the oil and gas industry of Mexico.
