The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to merge their operations in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK.
They will establish a 50/50 venture which will consist of Kotug and Smit, a subsidiary fully-owned by Boskalis.
By providing services to 11 ports in four different countries and with a revenue of EUR 150m ($187m), the merged companies expect to strengthen their combined market position.
