The Manhattan-based investor today revealed a holding of 9,580,000 shares in the shipowner.
Its 5.35% stake is worth just over $19m at present trading levels.
While this is the first time Aristeia has reported a holding above 5% in Scorpio Bulkers, it was known to be an investor in the company.
Last year an SEC filing showed it to hold 7,851,308 shares in Scorpio, giving it a 3.76%
