BIMCO has launched an anti-corruption clause for charter parties, giving owners the possibility to resist demands for illegal payments.
A contractual platform will be used in order to avoid corrupt actions by port officials and others.
Angus Frew, BIMCO secretary general, said: “BIMCO recognises the importance of a united approach by the shipping industry towards stamping out corruption in the ports and places where the world’s merchant fleet trades.”
