Investment banks have started to battle for roles in the privatisation of restructuring German lender HSH Nordbank.

Reuters cited sources familiar with the process as saying the bank’s federal owners, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, have fielded pitches from would-be advisors, but no decisions are likely before the second quarter.

"Key issues will be the performance of the three main business segments, shipping, real estate and corporates, as well as the timing of any deal within the shipping cycle," one of the sources said.
