Shipping shares were losing ground Friday but were on track to post gains for a week that saw broader stock markets rebound from prior losses.

The Dow Jones Global Shipping Index ended the session 1.3% lower today, bringing it to $460.15 at the close of trading in New York, but that was still 6.1% above last Friday’s close of $433.52.

The index’s largest component, AP Moller-Maersk of Denmark, closed 3.8%
