Panama's government has presented a bill to lawmakers aiming to spark development of shipbuilding and shipfinance industries in the country.
The proposed Shipbuilding Finance Promotion Law includes reforms that seek to facilitate establishing facilities that would build large ships in Panama.
The country has one panamax-size shipyard focused exclusively on repair, but a post-panamax facility has long been considered for a land near the canal.
