Nordea Bank's lawyers have asked a US judge to freeze payment of $2m in fees by attorneys for Primorsk International Shipping amid uncertainty over the outcome of a looming tanker auction in the US Bankruptcy Court in New York.

The White & Case lawyers for the bank are seeking to defer on a portion of the $2.7m in legal fees requested by rival firm Sullivan & Cromwell, which is representing the Russian tanker owner in its Chapter 11 restructuring case.
