Braemar Shipping Services (BSS) is projecting a “materially lower” result for the first time since the 2008 financial crisis due to a slump in its technical and tanker divisions.

The London-listed company said in its latest trading update that while it had expected the tanker market to soften after the high 2015 levels, there has been “a marked slowdown”.

Tankers have traditionally been the strongest segment of Braemar’s shipbroking business, with the biggest contribution to the group’s revenue.
