Claus Gronborg has been named as the new head of gas at Maersk Tankers effective immediately.

A graduate of the Maersk Shipping programme, Gronborg is said to have been instrumental in establishing Nova Tankers.
“Claus comes with extensive experience from Maersk Tankers and has until now held the position as Head of Crude,” Maersk said.
“The returns achieved in the gas segment has historically not been good enough,” said Maersk Tankers chief commercial officer Klaus Rud Sejling.
“We want to continue to be disciplined in not adding unnecessary capacity to the market – but instead focus on providing commercial flexibility and effective service to our customers.”
“Claus has exactly the qualities that we need to do so whilst working with strategic options for how to improve our own business performance.”
“Heading up Maersk Tankers’ gas activities is a great opportunity for me and together with our skilled gas team,” said Gronborg.
Between 2007 and 2008 Gronborg was head of the strategy and projects department at Maersk Tankers in Copenhagen.
