State-owned Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) wants to buy a second-hand VLGC to enter a new sector.
It said it is interested in acquiring a vessel of between 10 and 15 years of age.
Companies can offer in ships through an e-tender by 23 January via its website.
The company currently has just two 22,950-cbm gas carriers built in 1991.
The move follows a tender for a second-hand suezmax last year.
