Shipowner Golar LNG has made a fresh attempt to get its LNG carrier Gandria (built 1977) released after an escalating row that has resulted in the company responsible for the ship’s lay-up moving to detain the vessel at Batam in Indonesia.

Sources close to lay-up company Safe Haven Maritime claim that in the past few weeks an unmarked private launch containing persons dressed in both military uniforms and civilian clothes and claiming to be acting on behalf of Golar approached the Gandria in what is described as a second attempt to forcibly remove the vessel.
