Japan’s Osaka Gas Co has fixed an LNG carrier controlled by Teekay LNG on term business in what is seen as a new direction for a utility.

Speaking in a results briefing, Teekay LNG Partners president and chief executive Mark Kremin said the company had fixed its 165,500-cbm LNG carrier Methane Spirit (built 2008) to “a major Japanese utility company” for 18 months from the fourth quarter of 2018.
