Negotiations are finally underway on two 1970s-built LNG carriers earmarked for demolition.

Specialist brokers say the sale of Hyproc Shipping’s 129,700-cbm sisterships, the Larbi Ben M’Hidi (built 1977) and Bachir Chihani (built 1979), has not yet been concluded but that they are expected to be sent for scrapping in Turkey.

Negotiations are being kept under wraps, one broker adds, but the ships, which are marked as being of 23,556 ldt and 26,824 ldt, respectively, are likely to be sold on an “as is” basis.
