Jon Cook spent around eight years at sea, mainly serving on oil tankers and rising to the rank of master mariner.
After Cook worked onshore with El Paso Corp, in 2003 US oil and gas magnate George Kaiser hired him, Kathleen Eisbrenner and Rob Bryngelson, and US floating regas specialist Excelerate Energy was born.
At that time, the goal was about importing LNG into the US, Cook recalls with a wry smile.
