Shipowners are better putting their money into FSRU projects than buying conventional LNG carriers, according to analysts at Drewry.

Day rates for FSRUs have come down from the $120,000 to $130,000 per day range a couple of years ago to around $100,000 per day right now.

“Despite falling rates, owning an FSRU gives a better return than an LNG vessel,” Drewry said in a report today.
