Energy major Total has asked shipowners bidding to provide up to four LNG carrier newbuildings against term-charter business to extend the validity of their offers as it continues discussions on the vessels.
Those close to the business reveal that Total is asking for an extension on bids until late November.
They say the French energy company has asked owners to come forward with proposals that take advantage of French tax leases on the ships they are offering as they look to re-hone their bids.
