South Korea’s Sinokor Merchant Marine is being linked to the purchase of a 34-year-old LNG carrier that could boost its fleet of laid-up gas ships to 14.

Brokers report that the 125,568-cbm Echigo Maru (built 1983) has been sold by NYK, and name Sinokor as the buyer. They indicate a price in the region of $15m.

A senior NYK official confirmed to TradeWinds that the company is in the process of selling the vessel but declined to give details.
