A contest to provide a second LNG bunker vessel (LNGBV) to supply CMA CGM’s upcoming 14,000-teu boxship newbuildings is warming up.

Those following CMA CGM’s plans revealed that the French containership giant is expected to confirm an order this month for up to 12 dual-fuel LNG newbuildings at Hyundai Heavy Industries.

They said this would ignite a race between LNG suppliers and those wanting to compete on providing a purpose-built LNGBV to supply the new ships, which are expected to operate in the Mediterranean.
