India’s Great Eastern Shipping has emerged as the buyer of a modern VLGC put up for sale by BP, in a price-setting deal for large LPG carriers of this vintage.

Brokers said Great Eastern is believed to have secured the 81,000-cbm British Councillor (built 2007), one of three BP-controlled sisterships, at a price in the region of $41m-$41.5m.

One said there has been nothing of this type and age sold for the last couple of years.
