An LNG carrier contracted at Imabari Shipbuilding against a long-term time charter with trader Mitsui & Co has been cancelled.

Those working on the Japanese business identify the newbuilding as Hull No 8200, ordered in 2015 by Trinity LNG Transport — a partnership of shipowner K Line, Mitsui and Imabari.

At the time, K Line announced that the 178,000-cbm membrane-type LNG newbuilding, due for delivery in 2020, was fixed on a 25-year time charter with Mitsui.
