A long-delayed first LNG newbuilding for shipbuilder Japan Marine United (JMU) is scheduled to undertake gas trials this month.

Newbuilding sources said the 165,000-cbm newbuilding Energy Liberty is on the berth at JMU’s Tsu facility but will head out for the trials in mid-September loading LNG at a Tokyo Gas-controlled terminal.

The ship is being lined up for delivery to Tokyo Gas-controlled Tokyo LNG Tanker at the beginning of October.
