The 174,000-cbm vessels were expected to be contracted with UK stocklisted BG Group as the lead shareholder working in partnership with CNOOC Energy Technology & Services and CNOOC-China Merchants joint venture China LNG Shipping (Holdings).

But TradeWinds understands that BG has now sold down its stake in the ships and Teekay, which BG had invited in to oversee the construction of the vessels, has now taken a share in them.
