He takes over the post from Chris Buttery who is standing down, but will remain involved as a director of the company.
Maltby, an industry veteran with over 20 years of international shipping industry experience, is set to take up the post on 17 September.
He was most recently as managing director of Pacific Basin (UK) where he led the global handymax business and managed all dry bulk operations in the Atlantic region.
