The privately owned group told the Colombo stock exchange that it will spend $6.9m to buy the 6,571-cbm Gas Puffer (built 1995) from Prime Marine Management of Greece.

The ship will be renamed Gas Challenger and flagged in Sri Lanka.

And it has formed a new unit, Laugfs Maritime Services, to run its international shipping business, it added.

The plan is to own, operate and charter various types and sizes of ships, including, but not limited to, LPG vessels.
