The 174,000-cbm LNG carriers are owned by Teekay Corporation, China LNG Shipping, CNOOC Energy Technology and BW Gas of Norway and are currently under construction at China’s Hudong-Zhongua yard.

Wartsila described the latest deal as “a significant breakthrough into the Chinese market”.

The plant will reliquify 7% of the boil-off gas from the ships’ LNG cargo and return it to the cargo tanks, while no extra personnel are required for operation and maintenance, Wartsila said.
