The Oslo-listed LPG carrier owner said it is paying $73m to take control of the 77,324-cbm Vermilion First (built 2010).
The VLGC Vermilion First has been on a time charter with BW LPG since the acquisition of the charter from AP Moller-Maersk in 2013.
BW LPG said the purchase option became available in the first quarter of 2015. It will fund the deal from free cash and its revolving credit facility.
