UK class society Lloyd's Register (LR) has been handed a contract to handle safety checks at an LPG terminal in Sri Lanka.
The deal with energy company and LPG carrier owner Laugfs is worth £500,000 ($0.72m).
The terminal is at the port of Hambantota. Laugfs announced plans last year to build and operate the facility.
"After carefully evaluating different vendors’ proposals, we found LR’s benchmark assurance and advisory services to be a sound value proposition that had clear competitive advantages,” said Laugfs chairman WKH Wegapitiya.
