Chevron has said it expects to resume production at its Gorgon LNG project off Western Australia later this month.

In late March the $54bn project encountered mechanical problems at a cooling unit that allows the plant to chill natural gas for export

“Repairs to this equipment are nearing completion and we are in the process of reinstating the propane refrigerant circuit,” Joseph Geagea, Chevron’s executive vice-president, technology and projects, said in a conference call with investors.

“We
