India may boost LPG imports as a refinery on the country’s west coast curtails production. But it remains unclear whether that will boost spot fixture activity for very large gas carriers (VLGCs).

An Oil and Natural Gas Corporation-owned refinery in Mangalore, in the western state of Karnataka, will have to curtail LPG production by about two-thirds due to low levels on a nearby river, which supplies water for steam generation and other processes at the refinery.
