Samsung Heavy bags first order in almost a year

Samsung Heavy Industries has secured an order for two LNG carrier newbuildings in a deal worth KRW 420bn ($380m), it confirmed Friday.

The South Korean shipbuilder did not disclose the name of the counter party for the order which marks its first contract in almost one year.

On Wednesday TradeWinds reported that Samsung was in negotiations with the Peter Livanos-backed LNG shipowner GasLog for newbuildings.
