Norway's Yara International has logged lower earnings in the first quarter.

The fertiliser producer and LPG carrier owner said net profit was NOK 1.69bn ($197m), from NOK 2.8bn in 2016.

Revenue declined to NOK 22.63bn from NOK 25.05bn.

"Yara reports a weaker result than a year earlier, reflecting lower fertiliser prices and margins," it said. "However, we delivered increased sales volumes, both for fertiliser and industrial products."
