The International Chamber of Shipping is urging politicians to be “pragmatic and flexible” over emissions reductions targets after the industry came under pressure from the high level Tony de Brum One Planet Summit in Paris.

The Tony de Brum declaration, signed by 35 government leaders participating in the Paris climate change gathering, urged the International Maritime Organsation (IMO) to set a level of ambition that will help achieve the Paris Agreement’s goals when it announces its initial carbon reduction strategy in the spring of next year.
