Finnish ship systems group Wartsila is furthering its smart shipping ambitions with a deal to acquire navigation solutions group Transas.
The company said the UK operation will speed it along its path towards "its smart marine ecosystem (SME) vision."
The transaction value is EUR 210m ($258m). The deal is being paid for from existing funds.
Transas specialises in complete bridge systems, digital products and electronic charts, training and simulation services, ship traffic control, monitoring, and support.
